Dr Inke Schreiber

Dr Inke Schreiber is a clinical psychologist with an interest in understanding mental distress using narrative and psychodynamic models as well as drawing on ideas from community psychology. As such, Inke understands mental health struggles as located both between as well as within individals, which can be safely explored and understood in the context of a therapeutic relationship.
Inke has experience of working in a range of NHS settings, both inpatient and community, and has particularly enjoyed working with adolescents, adopted children and children in care. Working with young people from a variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, Inke believes it important to make space in therapy for issues such as social inequalities, gender, race and disability and to link these to how mental distress develops and is maintained.
As well as working in Stepping Stones Clinic, Inke is a senior clinical psychologist in a homeless oureach team in London and passionate about promoting social justice within her role. Inke brings authenticity, honesty, curiosity and compassion to her work with the aim of developing a joint un-derstanding of what brings a person to therapy. Inke believes that developing this joint understanding is a hugely important part of therapy. Emotional struggles can arise in an attempt to cope with and manage life circumstances – the complexity of this deserves a space to be heard.

Qualifications and experience:

Inke completed her doctorate in clinical psychology at Salomons Centre for Applied Psychology. She has a Master’s in psychiatric research and is currently completing training as a psychodynamic psychotherapist. Inke has additional training in Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), and in the Tree of Life approach.
