BSc (Hons) Social work – University of Hertfordshire MA with Merit in Systemic Psychotherapy – Tavistock and Portman Clinic
Throughout my career I have maintained a deep and sustained interest in working systemically with families. I have over twenty years of experience of working with adults and children and their families in a wide variety of contexts, dealing with complex situations. I work in a compassionate and sensitive manner that emphasises the centrality of the family and their capacity for transformation and growth. Through practically applying a variety of theoretical Systemic approaches I have been successful in supporting many families through their difficulties, while enabling them to find their voice and strength to move forward positively in their lives.
I began my career in music and education, teaching children of different ages. I spent a decade as an experienced Social worker specialising in work with family, children and adolescents affected by mental health problems by supporting people both in the community and in inpatient settings. Since 2008 I have been working in Family Therapy Clinics, and graduated from the Tavistock as a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist.
My work includes supporting families affected by and including the following: divorce, grief, loss, trauma, living with physical or mental illness, abuse, relationship difficulties, drug and alcohol, parenting difficulties, behavioral difficulties, changes around transition and change, issues with sexuality, gender identity, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, anxiety, depression, self-harm, Schizophrenia, Psychosis, Bi-Polar Disorder, PTSD, BDD, Domestic Violence, ASD.
I work creatively and inclusively with the understanding that all families and individuals have their own particular difficulties and strengths. I believe that creating an opportunity to have different conversations within a context of compassion and acceptance empowers people to see things differently, find their unique voice and so make different choices.
