Dr. Ionna Vrouva

Ioanna obtained her Psychology degree with first class honours at the University of Athens, and following a year of further study and work as a teacher in India, received her MSc in Research Methods in Psychology (Distinction) at University College London (UCL). She first developed her interest in child and adolescent mental health as a researcher in the Department of Clinical Psychology at UCL, where she was awarded her PhD.
Afterwards, Ioanna completed her doctoral training in Clinical Psychology at UCL. Since then, she has received further specialist training in Child and Young Person therapy, and is qualified in Interpersonal Therapy for Adolescents.
As a researcher and clinician, Ioanna has focused on mentalization-based theory and therapeutic approaches. She has co-edited a book titled “Minding the Child: Mentalization-Based Interventions with Children, Young People and their Families” and has a particular interest in Mentalization-Based Treatment for Adolescents (MBT-A). Ioanna has also offered teaching and research supervision for postgraduate courses at Kings and University College London. Currently, she works as a Clinical Psychologist in a highly specialist clinic at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust.
She is a chartered member of the British Psychological Society and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
Ioanna is able to conduct assessment and therapy in both English and Greek
